About This Tour
Join the original Kyoto Free Walking Tour through the Gion and Higashiyama districts!
During the tour, you will explore Kyoto’s heritage with our Free Walking Tour.
Wander through Gion’s geisha district, visit historic Buddhist temples, and conclude with a visit to a Shinto shrine located in the beautifully preserved Higashiyama district.
Free Walking Tour Concept
This is a free walking tour that follows the worldwide-famous “free walking tour” concept.
Although the tour is free, it also means that the guides do not receive a salary or hourly wage.
It’s entirely up to you! If you enjoyed the tour, please feel free to show your appreciation by supporting your guide with a tip afterward.
Agreement for Voluntary Participation in Tours
Participation in any of the Kyoto Free Walking Tours (KFWT) is voluntary and free of charge.
By participating in any of the tours, you agree that KFWT is not responsible for any damages, injuries, accidents, or other incidents that might occur during the tour.
KFWT does not provide any kind of insurance, and all participants are responsible for their own safety.
Attention!
Beware of unofficial groups at our meeting point.
Look for guides with a Kyoto Free Walking Tour sign to ensure an authentic experience.

We do NOT wait for latecomers
Be on time, preferably 10 minutes before the start.
Contacting the guide before or during the tour is not possible.
After the tour the guide will have time to answer questions and give recommendations for more fun or tasty experiences in Kyoto.
Meeting Spot
Location: In front of Izumo no Okuni statue, on the bank of Kamo River,
next to Keihan Gion Shijo station and a 3-minute walk from Hankyu Kawaramachi station.
